Stan Ovshinsky has devised a way to solidify hydrogen that offers a alternative that can be delivered in the same fashion as gasoline and is stable and can be transported as safely as any gasoline carrier can mover their product. I heard and article on NPR about a year ago where he said if given the opportunity he could reduce our gasoline consumption by half in 5 years using a relatively cheap conversion of the standard automobile. The site is as follows. Be sure to go to his home page and look into other things he is into. www.ovonic.com/sol_srv/3_3_hydrogen_sol/hydrogen_sol.htm

Ok Folks, I finished the book The solar Hydrogen Civilization by Roy McAlister.
It is all about the plans of how to get from point a to point B, but as mentioned earlier, it is well documented w/Stats and diagrams included on the pages. If you want to read about Roy McAlisters plan and strategy and become involved with the International Renewable Resources Institute then you might want to read the book; otherwise I think you get much more practical information out of the DVD's.

Here's a great article by Fred on Impaired Driving. We obviously need more government testing and inspection programs. This is getting SERIOUS, folks! -NonE

MADD and prohibition (not just a conspiracy theory!) and PMS. I forgot how entertaining and insightful "Fred" articles can be. I have had a cousin tell me that in iceland they supposedly harness this energy. But he has a reputation like the federal reserve creating nothing from nothing and calling it something.

Hey Joe, that's funny, but there have been documentaries about that. . . Iceland that is so your cousin is probably correct I've got a geo thermal HVAC. It doesn't get quite as hot as that demon dung though.

Otherwise, we're all pretty bad off, not able to be more than just hunter-gatherers, ain't we? Or even worse. *cough* TragedyOfTheCommons*cough* As it relates to energy and Hardin's 'case for "no technical solutions", [noting] the limits placed on the availability of energy', there are some solutions available and waiting to be implemented on a wide scale. Although the sun may only have a few billion years left and will eventually run out, that is still quite a long time. It's energy can be harnessed in the form of Photo-voltaic, Wind and Ocean Waves to generate electricity. Some of that can be used to split the hydrogen off of the good ole water molecule (approaching 90% efficiency), and used in a myriad of ways from barbecue grills to Internal combustion engines. If you look at how long it takes to make fossil fuel [oil/gas] (millions of years) it is no where near 90% efficient. Yes it is probably easier to just pump this stuff out of the ground, but we are pumping it out much faster than it is being made. Technological advancements made the current level of planetary population possible, and without making some major changes in how we use technology and fuel we are not living sustainably in the long term; however, hydrogen is sustainable and renewable. When you "burn" it you get water and then have a closed loop with water from which the hydrogen was initially extracted. So, as it relates to Hardins premise of energy and living as has been done in the past and currently I would agree, but there is a technological solution that makes his premise on limited energy false and therefore I would not agree.

I dunno how I missed reading this when you first posted it. WOW. I know the PTB are always surpressing dissent and the expression of alternative viewpoints, etc. But it's amazing to see how many patents have actually gone through with alternative energy stuff. This especially fascinated me; Ron Paul is the most stand up congresscritter, always displaying integrity, and though he is obviously politically active, he is a libertarian in his beliefs and his many famous speeches exposing the neocons etc. have done immeasurable good in getting the masses aware of how bad things have already gotten. So when the mention of the "Moray device" includes Paul as a recipient of information about it, you gotta wonder what he did with the info -- or if his staffer never handed it to him. After all, Ron Paul is still alive today, isn't he?

Just found this in one of those non intrusive banner ads at the top of the page. Pretty cool. Check out The General Motors Cornulator. aha here it is . . . From The Iowa Corn Growers Association WOW !!! Did I just read that correctly? A Perpetual Energy Machine? Corn? Cool. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Rant Follows Ignore if you like: [RANT] Course after all the taxes, rules, regulations, licenses for farmers etc., I'll bet it won't be long before the parasites suck up that extra energy. I missed the SOTU dribble but heard that the pRezident claimed we could be on alternative fuels as early as oh say . . . 20 years . . . (whilst likely thinking: In another 20 I'll be so old I won't give a hoot anymore let someone else worry bout it so long as I can protect my slice of the oil pie while I'm alive). I'm fairly sure that if the gubmint would get out of the way a wave of entrepreneurs would put this stuff on the market inside of a year or so, and then the major auto manufacturers would produce the goods or else loose customers. Heck Ford's been producing multi-fuel traditional and Diesel in Brazil for years. (That link is in this thread somewhere.) The issue as I see it is there is a move to move slowly enough that "Big Oil" families can get a major stake in the Ethanol market so they can still somewhat control the energy markets. (I know a cynical view). The only problem there is that little Archer Daniels Midland (NYSE:ADM) company. Someone at ADM can sneeze the wrong way and grain prices will rise or fall several points so the big oil folks might have to get use to having a new master. It would be interesting to know if there has been any activity on the part of people heavily invested in big oil buying into ADM or like companies. [/RANT] As some smart guy round here has observed and said, and some are beginning to believe, "Voluntary . . . It's inevitable".
