Has anyone seen the German movie Das Experiment? It's the movie based on the Stanford prison experiment.

Is this the experiment where one group of people is put in charge of another group of people and the experiment has to be stopped prematurely because the controllers became too sadistic?
Nope....never saw it....Is it at BlockBuster?

Have not watched the movie, but have previously read the study. Just recently reviewed it again with the link from your web site.

William Shatner once play a scientist conducting similar tests in a TV movie called "The Tenth Level." See imdb.com/title/tt0075320/imdb.com/title/tt0075320/plotsummaryPlot Summary for The Tenth Level (1975) Inspired by the Stanley Milgram obedience research, this TV movie chronicles a psychology professor's study to determine why people, such as the Nazi's, were willing to "just follow orders" and do horrible things to others. Professor Stephen Turner leads students to believe that they are applying increasingly painful electric shocks to other subjects when they fail to perform a task correctly, and is alarmed to see how much pain the students can be convinced to inflict "in the name of science."

What does this say about us? Could the Bible be accurate at Jeremiah 17:9?

There is no "us," only productive people trading voluntarily and non-productive parasites doing business at the barrel of a gun.

Neo,
I was just talking about this particular topic. We are really looking into man's basic nature here. My question speaks in general terms. Are we basically good or basically latent sadists?

I don't believe people are latent sadists. I believe they are created. Look at the structure of society due to the government hoax. All that propaganda from the time we are five; everything we think and then do is filtered through all that junk. To then put someone into an unnatural situation, such as controlling another, and there is trouble.
People are taught that freedom is being able to do whatever the "law" does not prohibit. It's all about permission and submission. It's no surprise that some people may not respect property rights when they don't know anything about the concept.
Freedom is total control over your life and property all the time, and no control over another man's life and property.
Protecting that freedom means not permitting the control; not coming in and filling out a "report" two hours after the incident.

KT, I know what you're intent was and the purpose of this thread, but, as far as you're concerned Marc, "it doesn't matter who's property it is. It has to be put to a vote."

Heh heh, ok Neo. What are your thoughts on the outcome of the experiment then?

Figures ... it's really very old news and only seems impressive to those who are not experienced with the depths to which "normal" people will go and or it's scientific-study approach.
In any case, it's only a statement about what some might do under certain circumstances, not all. "Normal" only means the majority of any group, however large or small in number, it doesn't mean "truly healthy, " "perfectly sane and rational" or anything else like that. Few individuals approach anything like perfection and, even then, usually after a very long history of erring up in every which way that you can imagine.

People are motivated by what they think they want. We are brain washed into believeing that certain things are necessary and we fight tooth and nail into getting them. We, the "freedom fighters"? are fighting for what we beileve is our right. The soft minds out there who have been imprinted with the requirements of society upon their directionless souls fight out the battle with us to satisfy their intrinsic need for a purpose. Society is feeding our babies a drug upon which their very existence will ultimately depend - raision d'etre, a reason to be. We have been either lucky, blessed, or born strong enough to stay off, or break away from the teat. tru
