It amazed me, as I watched a group of men plot genecide, that each and every one of the perpetrators felt very self-justified in what they were doing. It was as if planning the annihilation of millions of people was just matter-of-course and something to "get out of the way", so to speak. Can that many seemingly intelligent men truly feel that way, or did the Fuhrer incite them to inwardly recant all prior feelings of humanity or compassion they might have had? Is it possible that this could happen in America? If so, it would take years and years of ruthless and self-serving leaders whittling away at our rights the way termites undermine a rotten log until it crumbles!

Of course, the stuff I bolded above says it all -- we in the AiLL community know the sad answer -- because we see it every day in the "courts" and at "traffic stops" and everything in between

It could not only happen in America there is already underway a serious attempt by the ultra rightwingers to demonize anyone who disagrees with them to the point of refusing to disavow any violent statements made by the reichwingers in America.

The putrid [expletive deleted] Coulter along with several others (especially Fakenews) have no problem believing and promoting that killing liberals would be best for America.

The Christian Taliban has crafted what they hope will become the NEW AMERICAN PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. It was unvieled a few months ago at the Justice Sunday meeting where THOUSANDS of "Christians" met to set up political agendas to take over the government starting from local councils all the way to the senate and White House.

To answer MountainMan's question, I for one believe that something like this could indeed happen here in the USA.

All that would be required would be a readily identifiable enemy and a concerted effort by the media to demonize them- many people will believe any nonsense so long as it's in print or, in our day, on TV. I've often thought people as a whole will commit any outrage if it's packaged attractively and if they can be made to think that they can benefit materially from going along with it.

PS: I found the article via a link from one of Sunni's blog entries ( www.sunnimaravillosa.com/archives/00000545.html ) and I agree with her: there wasn't much else in there to agree with as objectively reason-ably fact-ually truth -- it was mostly "paytriot nonsense" (or verging into that territory).
