re. Romans 13... Well, anybody who doesn't go to church a lot will probably have never been "told" what that passage means, i.e. have it imposed on them via guilt or similar.So... perhaps* as one who qualifies ie "doesn't go to church" (a lot or otherwise), NonE, what does the quote of Romans 13 "say" to you? * [we won't get into whether you've been 'baptized'-- or if that's even necessary --to have " eyes to see/ ears to hear"... nor if you think you have but it wasn't done "by the book"...] ok, ok, I realize (as I too used it) The "answer" here: context! Eye's takin' it outta context!! (emphasis on the "con") where again, interesting that to get any meaning one first has to have "the official" ("apostle"/"pope"/author-I-tie) somewhere down the line; some as the progenitors, others as the translators/versionators/termanators ("meanies"?)... ad nauseum/ad infinitum... no, wait, that's Latin; and we need the original "official" Greek & "official" Hebrew... or is the Aramaic?! [and ultimately, if not "The Church", organized (remember, "Assembly" above?) or organs individual, then gosh, when you disagree with Me (myself, and I-i-i)-- aka "the more rational way of interpreting..." --then you just need the "Spirit"... ditto the ad hocs] [even ole T.J. got in on the "officialization" process!] been there, done that, got the t-shirt, and the "con"fusion circle dizzies*... (the postcards in the email) --eye2i6-6-6 * circle dizzies = mental tattoo (or scars)

I guess that was supposed to convey something, but I got lost and never found my way out of la la land. I know you don't really WANT to piss people off to the point where they don't care to give a flying f*ck what it is you are saying, but that is sure the effect it has on me when you make a post like the above. I'm trying to follow you here, 2i2, but I only have so much energy and patience, and we're on my second attempt. I'll soon just put you back on my ignore-any-posts-with-that-moniker on them list.
Not meaning to be mean, or anything aside from my honest opinion, you understand.

I think he was channelling The Accidental Poet Rumsfeld, you know "There are known unknowns, and unknown unknowns..."

I think he was channelling The Accidental Poet Rumsfeld, you know "There are known unknowns, and unknown unknowns..." I hadn't realized ole "AP" Rummie was a The Holy Book man! No doubt by reminding me of that quote ( by their fruits...), that he is! (or a lost sheeple just needing to be awakened to his anointed calling) * ps: to the Non Initiates... I know it is really tacky to quote one's self, but this is worth quoting, even if I do say so myself!
"I think we should pass a law which says that it is illegal to use coercive force on anyone, anywhere, for any reason... ever. And we must see that it is enforced!"

I'd be REALLY embarrased to make a post which gave evidence of watching a show like that. REALLY embarased. Vanna might lose her respect for me if she found out. . .

related: "CONSIDERATIONS ON REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT", available on Gutenberg.org (for example) Also, I was on Amazon, doing a preview of some pages of JSM's "On Liberty", and managed to do a screenshot of the "Introductory", if anyone is interested I can ZIP the 16 pages (16 .PNG files) and put it on MediaMax... Such timely wisdom in that man's verbiage, 150 years ago...

The only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others.
This is one of these slippery slope phrases, imho. Just what factually is "prevent harm to others"? [granted, perhaps its a tad out of context here?] Seems its right up there with " insure domestic Tranquility... provide for the general defense... promote the general Welfare"... After all, isn't "gun control"* (legislation) for one example based upon just that... prevent harm to others? Optimal word being "prevent". Where for some it seems, their "domestic tranquility" only comes when guns are illegal for the "general public" ie their neighborhoods/neighbor hoods? Seems inherent with such, that indeed we inherently get "the generals" [armed forces] with such "generals". Generalization regarding Liberty = General-a-Nation. *[eye, for 1, am for gun control! as gun control is simply hitting one's target--- ]
