Yea, because Big Giant Head doesn't want someone to make a valid rational point that would show him for the stooge he is . . . that is. Marc is doing the opposite and trying to help folks find one in there; which is hopeless with Jeff I think. Marc does have much more patients for that than I would. Maybe It is good to let Jeff go on cause we get to see the lunacy but I'm sure most of us see enough of that everyday . . . ;D I certainly don't mean anyone holding a truth-full position to use O-Lie-ly tactics to silence discussion or disagreement. I hate how BillO makes horrible presumptions before a caller (or WORSE, an interviewee!) has even come close to finishing their first sentence. But the other extreme makes for hard listening, too -- not saying I'd do any better in Marc's place, but there's so much he has to say and so little time to say it, it's frustrating to see his patience and optimism and trust get trampled on and exploited by those who have no interest in actually addressing the issues. :-\ So my "suggestion", perhaps have not a SCREENING process, but a QUALIFYING question or two before the caller is given 15 minutes rant/promote/makefoolofself. e.g. "Sir, before you continue, may I ask you what degree of control you believe is morally justified for your neighbour to have over your peaceful, consensual activities?" or more realistically gonna get a response: "Sir, what specific elements of a voluntary society and truly 'free' market offering desired goods and services to interested parties do you have a problem with?"

I did not originally intend to have Jeff on again, however, listen to the show when I was talking with Paul from LA, I mentioned there was a caller who did think a service or product should be provided at the barrel of gun. I was of course talking about Jeff and thought he would respond when I brought him on. Silly me, he didn't go for it.

A tactful way of shutting up someone who is making a speech that is used by many that I've heard on talk radio is to break in and say, "Excuse me, but did you have a question?"

WTG Marc! When I heard you saying a while ago that you have to get Allistair back on with Joe, I didn't think you'd be able to manage scheduling such an event. All this, AND Coast to Coast. The clouds are parting, the sun is shining...

Thanks, I am not announcing it yet, but, a guest I have been looking to have on since the start of the show is probably going to be on. I'll be speaking with him again very soon.

Well, you haven't given it away, but you eliminated about 50% of our possible guesses. Sadly I now know it's not Mary Ruwart, Claire Wolfe or Cat Farmer.

" Cat Farmer is a perennial misfit, autodidact, market anarchist and libertarian activist. She loves cats, music, plants, and country life. She is currently pursuing a career in the financial sector. Her interests include economics, alternative medicine, philosophy, creative writing, and web surfing. Her motto: Too many naked emperors, too little time." (archive here)

Although the last time I talked with him he said he would probably never go on anyone's radio show I would hope he reconsiders. My Guess. . . . Carl Watner

I'd love to have Carl on, I think I've mentioned his book a half a dozen times in the last month or so. I should call him again. The guest in question is not Carl though. This guest, although he has not confirmed doing the show, has expressed interest and wants to talk about the issues we would discuss on the show. What I will say, is he is a GIANT in his field. I can now "officially" announce next week's show: Saturday Sept. 2, 2006, my guests will be Stefan Molyneux, host of Freedomain Radio freedomainradio.com and regular contributor to lewrockwell.com, and Jim Davies of www.TakeLifeBack.com and regular contributor to strike-the-root.com.

No, I mentioned his older book, I Must Speak Out. he quotes Jim Davies on his site this week:
Quote of the Week There’s only one way to abolish war, and that’s to abolish government. - - Jim Davies, THE ON LINE FREEDOM ACADEMY, Segment 10, Sec. 4.
YEAH! ;D ;D ;D

IMSO is a great book, for sure... I read a couple of essays every few weeks, trying to stretch out its wisdom (and frustration!) over a long period of time. The "best" of The Voluntaryist -- wow, I pity the folks who had to choose what got excluded since most of it so clear and articulate brilliance. ;D ...have you heard anything about the new book? (From the preface -- intriguing enough that I think I'm gonna buy it soon...)
