You would think 500,000 people in prison on bogus charges and 40,000 paramilitary raids a year without legal grounds would be a story the media would be interested in. I guess there has to be a raid on Britney Spears' house for any of these so-called "reporters" to be interested. What a sad state of affairs, a dancing banana gets millions of hits while real important information is virtually ignored.

You would think 500,000 people in prison on bogus charges and 40,000 paramilitary raids a year without legal grounds would be a story the media would be interested in. related, taking a different tact (the "financial" cost rather than immorality) " 5.2 million marijuana arrests since 1992. It cost you $4.5 billion. Is it really worth it?" changetheclimate.org/If you'd like to "change the climate" around marijuana to keep your kids safe from hard drugs, to save thousands of your tax dollars, and to stop the senseless arrest of millions, then support Change the Climate. It's a campaign, founded by parents and business professionals, to educate the public about the tremendous waste of our tax dollars for the "war on marijuana" and the increasing threat to our basic civil liberties. Our goal is to tell the truth about marijuana -- to de-demonize it -- so that someday, politicians will support marijuana reform legislation. Support us now and help us tell the truth. Like other drugs, marijuana is NOT for kids. But providing inaccurate information about marijuana in the form of "shock ads" only discredits adults and our efforts to curb marijuana use by young people. Click here for ideas on how to talk to your kids about marijuana. Change the Climate's advertising campaign is an effective way to change attitudes and bring marijuana reform directly to the people -- billboards and banner ads reach different people than NY Times and New Republic ads. Politicians will NOT make any effort to change unjust, wasteful and unconstitutional marijuana laws until it's clear that people are fed up with these laws. Since 1996, medical marijuana initiatives have been passed by a majority of voters in eight states and the District of Columbia -- and no state has ever rejected a medical marijuana initiative. Currently, one in five voters in the U.S. lives in a state where marijuana is legal for medicinal purposes. changetheclimate.org/campaigns/

Studies Validate Smoke-Free Medical MarijuanaVaporization Avoids Exposure to Contaminants in Smoke; Associated With Reduced Respiratory Symptoms Two new studies, one from the University of California, San Francisco, and the other from the University at Albany, State University of New York, provide strong evidence that technology now allows medical use of marijuana with the rapid action and easy dose adjustment of inhalation, but without the respiratory hazards associated with smoking. This is considered highly important, as the risks associated with smoke inhalation have been cited by both government officials and independent experts as a major argument against medical marijuana. "Ten years ago, the Institute of Medicine's landmark, White House-commissioned report found that marijuana has medical value," said Rob Kampia, executive director of the Marijuana Policy Project in Washington, D.C. "In its report, the Institute of Medicine also called for the development of a non-smoked delivery system before making medical marijuana widely available. Now that we have such a delivery system, the prohibitionists' final arguments against medical marijuana have been reduced to rubble." -from the Marijuana Policy Project (interesting "MJ Truth" page here -- focused on FACTS and FREEDOM, instead of FEAR and F'IN CONTROL) (found via Tom's blog -- "Monday, April 30, 2007 - MPP Monday! - MPP's Bruce Mirken joins us! / Vapors are "changing the game" for real/ Grandma Joyce Nalepka (President of "Drug-Free Kids: America's Challenge", Silver Spring) joins us to provide the prohibitionist viewpoint / Atlanta cops planted drugs in elderly victim's home after pumping 39 shots into her (correction: they fired 39 shots; only six hit her)?!? And you're surprised? / More Media analysis to brighten your life!]")
