Update: 6/Dec
Neo started a thread "Prospering Without Legal Land". Kaos made a most profound observation in that, "I don't see how I am prospering with it, so I'm gonna have to go for 'without it'." The thread got a little side tracked but Neo said, "My best idea on how to end Legal Land is to learn how to prosper without it."
There is nothing wrong with enjoying the fruits of ones own labor; and who here believes that more taxation, regulation, and domination will lead to prosperity? The cold facts are that Governments of the world have had well over nearly 6000 years of known recorded history to solve the problems that plague the world and they have failed. Do you really believe that it is in gubmints best interest to end crime, homelessness, etc.? I'll tell you the answer. NO! How would they justify their jobs and claims for more and more money? Where does the money come from? (Besides borrowing, printing, or stealing more? yes even though its funny money that's not the point)
Simply put, prosperity is likely the natural result of life without legal land; therefore the question should be,
* How do we prosper notwithstanding the existence of legal land?
* What are practical things each of us can do?
* Small things or changes, Large bold changes?
Although the Mennonites & Amish remain a little bit behind in terms of technology, (or at least to outward apearances), their communities survive relatively well. I had the following questions and wondered if someone could answer them and/or do some checking. Perhaps it will stimulate some thoughts and/or ideas on how to prosper or generate more questions in other areas. We have a great deal of brainpower in this group let’s put it to use!
Are there homeless people in the community?
How many are there?
Is there any crime in the community?
It is from internal or external sources?
Do their children go to public schools?
Do they have birth certificates?
Do they have Social Security Numbers?
Since they promote the appearance of living a frugal, subsistence lifestyle, do they do this in practice?
If so what are the sources of income?
Do they need income?
Do they pay tax?
What type of tax? (Sales, Income, Social Security)
Do they have land patents?
Do they pay property tax?
If there are responsive answers, we can analyze them and formulate more questions, which may give us some detail. i.e. Find the "why" and "how".
I picked this community of people simply because the popular belief is that they have little to do with the system, and therefore the system should have little to do with them. If this is actually true then maybe we can learn some lessons. But I'm not advocating going back to oil lamps and horseback. . . . for now.

original post 4/Dec Follows:
Does anyone live near an amish community?
A Simple yes or no will do for now. Thanks and see below.
I will post more details in a few days when there is an answer to the question. I was getting ready for some zzz and it hit me. Just had to get this out there so I don't forget.
TIA
See the following post in "Prospering With Out Legal Land" for more info at the moment the rest will be posted here in Amish thread in a few days.
