Mine is not all that original or creative, but it is certainly telling. It's not a state of ...just in alaska: a last hold out in America where to a point, you can be free to do what you want with impunity. Here's a list of things that create such a situation: No taxes(state, land, sales) No permits or inspectors(Build your own house. if it falls down, too bad, it's your fault) Hunt for your own food if you want. Everyone owns guns. Many of us are independent of all the grids(well, sewer, electricity.) Thus, it is weird when a revenue agent(cop) pulls you over for offending the state. There are few here, but they are certainly not here to protect and serve when they do poke around nine times out of ten! Now, Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau are real live cities and not all of the above applies, but the rest of Alaska is very much like that. scottinalaska

Simply that he did not stand out at the beginning as some Ultimate Enemy Of The Machine, but in #2 and #3 they talked about how many previous "messiahs" had come before him, so they somehow magically knew he was the next One, etc. But in film #1, it was like almost uncertain until the end whether or not he was the One, and in the end he was in some way (ambiguously depicted) awakening others in order to dismantle the infrastructure itself - not attacking head-on the Architect et al. Isn't our approach (i.e. inside the AiLL boards, and hopefully in most of our daily lives) more like Neo's infrastructure-dismantling implied at the end of Film #1, rather than the Bruckheimeresque in-your-face offensive attacks that made up most of #2 and #3? In other words, of the 3 roles mentioned in Claire Wolfe's " 101 137 things to do before the revolution" I would guess that very few of us are "agitators", but rather are "ghosts" (those who throw wrenches in the spokes of the System without making a martyr of ourselves), or even "moles" (staying in a noteable position and enacting change from within the System). Just a thought. I 'guess' you could say that I'm an agitator. CLaire said that she thought of me when naming the new Agitator section of her board. Imagine that!

I think that I may have posted previously as to why I used suijurisfreeman, but just in case I didn't. The Latin phrase Sui Juris means by one's own right and I am in fact a free Man.

I"m really new here, but I thought I'd chime in, too.
My name has a ot of personal history. When I got my first computer, 11 years ago, and I was getting set up with email, a web page, etc. I had to choose a screen name. I chose lordjustice because I thought it was cool at the time (ah, to be 14 again...)
Over the years, the name grew into a persona, complete with picture (coming soon). Over more years, I just used it because I can type it so fast.
The concept is clear - Justice. "Lord" came about because it sounded cool to my teenaged mind, and I've just stuck with it.
Now that I'm old enough to start making a difference, perhaps it will become an apt pseudonym.

It's been about 75 days since any new posts on here... And I *know* there are some new members, including some who have been regularly posting. So those of you who haven't added your "origin story" here, please help us rejoice in your unique coolness by doing so at your earliest convenience. If you want. After all, we're voluntaryists here. Your consent is not optional, nor is it implied by you reading these words. PS: giflanker, is that "G.I. Flanker" or "GIF Lanker" or "Gee, If Lanker" or somethign else -- dang, I'm baiting you, sorry

Beause I've been a dumb surfer my whole life. Now I'm even dumber, cause I surf the Great Lakes these days after livin' in Hawaii on Oahu's North Shore for over a decade as well as other spots that have "real" waves. Just can't stay outta the water. Wet or frozen doesn't make any difference to me. just need my gills submerged thats all. SURFSUP DUDE! ;D

I would have posted here sooner, but I've not gone through every single post that's ever been posted as that is quite a few. However, I did now read it because I noticed the little, blue "new" icon next to the post's name. So....
Darren, it is "gjflanker", with a 'j', not an 'i'. At any rate, I use it all over the place 'cause I'm used to it, kind of like LordJustice, and similar to him, it was my original screen name when I set up my first e-mail account on aol. It is the initials to my first and last name (Gary Johnson) and I added flanker because at the time I was playing a lot of military strategy games via e-mail and outflanking my opponent is what I liked (and still like! :-)) to do.
So there's my screen name story. Thanks for sharing to everybody else too!

Marc chose 'Marc Stevens' because he's trying to represent himself without a lawyer, or practice self-impersonation, again, without a lawyer. He, he ... Wait, did he properly file out and registerrecord the appropriate "artificial person a.k.a. corporation living will power of attorney" form? In triplicate?

Paytriot, That sounds like the theme song/lyrics of the movie Brazil. Most certainly a good movie to see when you get a chance. scottinalaska

Cool avatar dvishnu. Bird was the BEST. My wife introduced me to Bird's music when we started dating. It's one thing to play 16th notes at 130 bpm, but to improvise at that speed, over those chord changes and while he was stoned? Amazing. Lover Man is my wife's favorite and we had it played at our wedding by our niece.
