Please, everyone, click on your own screenname to bring up your "View Profile" webpage, then type the number of the number of posts you've thus far posted into the box provided in order to bring up all of your past message posts on your computer screen. Then "select all" to highlight all that stuff, then click Copy, then Paste that file into a notepad plain text window to make a back up copy of it onto your computer's memory / hard drive, or, if you have a lot of links embedded into your words / messagaes, copy that file into a window / document that will preserve all the HTML code therein.
Then copy all your stuff onto the new board after removing all the junk from it, with you deciding what parts are junk.
Also, make back up copies of your favorite threads, such as the very popular "super quotes for super heroes" one.
Then please post here what threads you have made back up copies of.
Thanks! Let's keep thoughts on freedom preserved forever.

Neo,
Thanks for the hand-holding.
I tried to do what you said. I put 2,191 into the box and it churned and bubbled and eventually gave me this messsage: "Maximum Results: The maximum number of results for any search is 1,000. Your maximum number of results has been automatically adjusted."
So it looks like I've been truncated.
I'd guess there's no way around this, but if you know of one, please post it.

Ask for 1000 and take what you can get.
Visit every thread and search for your stuff therein.
Back up everything you can. Make a record of names and pages within the threads you back up and post it so no one else does to.

A complete backup of ALL threads (since the "last" backup -- I can do some date-comparing and see what's been modified since 29Oct2006) which will keep all the messages "on topic" and in logical order. Unless Marc is in a hurry to "shut down" this forum. In which case fine go ahead folks, try to "save" the last 1000 of your posts. :-\ BTW for anyone saving their "favorite" threads themselves, have fun -- I would recommend clicking the "Print" icon first, get it all as a single file, and save it as .MHT (which will include the images and all the forum icons etc.) <-- which is what I plan on doing tomorrow afternoon sometime. Neo, I like the idea of saving/posting the old forum threads in the new forum. However, do we really want to dump thousands of posts into the new forum? Could someone set up a sub-section on the new forum and label it something like "Old Forum Posts" as a way of segmenting it from the new forum posts?

Lord Marc, please deliver us from temptation... Seriously though, starting my backup now (got some SRV playing in the background, screen size is 1280x1024, time to shift-click open a dozen threads at a time... wish me luck folks. PS: please do NOT CREATE ANY NEW THREADS on here, mkay? It makes the "page ##" get difficult for me when I'm backing up the forum. Good news though, this should take me half the time of last October's job... Then it was all 42 "pages", now it seems the "modified since then" starts at page 21 (so pages 22..42 are already backed up). Wish me luck, folks... ;D PS: "old" backup from Oct2006 is now hosted here: www.mydatabus.com/public/simonj/29Oct2006_AiLL_backup.zipI willupload the new one (Jun2007) on the same site, and will include the old stuff in the same zip. But if anyone wants to grab the old one just in case stuff has disappeared in the last 7 months, feel free to take up that task NEW BACKUP (09Jun2007) *completed* and uploaded here... Please feel free to grab this ZIP, mirror it, etc. --> www.mydatabus.com/public/simonj/09Jun2007_AiLL_backup_FINAL.zip <-- Also might I recommend, MARC, that you now Officially Lock Down This Forum by making it all read-only to everyone except yourself? plz and tyvm
