Oy.
Like, yo, man, like, sorry, yo, no can do. For reasons I've explained elsewhere ("Facts vs. Opinions" thread), I can't compromise my guest status.
If you mean to dismantle the matrix, then you need to be prepared to face unhappy campers. On the one hand, you're already facing lots of folks around here who are non-plussed at having no idea where you're coming from and having no idea what you're about. And you frankly seem to like it that way.
Well, a lot of that is similar to how I do things.
The difference is that if I have reason to believe I have offended someone, I normally try to get that healed (KT has advised you to try to do that.), and I certainly DON'T come back and belittle them for feeling disoriented.
A second difference may be that I AM NOT hanging around here with the notion of trying to change anyone's ideas. I share what I think, I listen to (and ask) what others think; if we can profit from the exchange, fine; if we don't understand each other, well, there don't need to be hard feelings there, either. I've got no presumptive monopoly on truth.

Using the IM feature doesn't reveal your identity.
I suggested you use it because of Marc's suggestion to keep things off the board that might lead to "bickering," such as the subject matter on the "To Marc Stevens" thread.
Two who "are non-plussed at having no idea where you're coming from and having no idea what you're about" is not a lot to me. I believe I'm clear what I think so I don't worry about it if I'm not understood or some think I have an agenda.
I do apologize if I feel I've done wrong. I don't recall belittling anyone for feeling disoriented. I asked for an apology once and got none. Life is the way it is.

IM isn't available to guests. My stake is to maintain a status where I CANNOT edit my posts. See final paragraph of my « Reply #40 on: Dec 17th, 2004, 10:27am » on the "Facts vs Opinions" thread.

You can still create a profile and elevate your status beyond guest by adding an email address to that profile. I would bet that the computer system cannot tell if it is a non-functional address (fake), or even the address for the president of the united states.
Please create a profile with a fake address or for someone everyone knows is not yours, like that for ophrah winfrey or the prez. Then we can communicate by IM and my hecklers won't feel they have a stake in our private communication -- because they can't see it -- if's off the board on the IM area.
I read your message at: « Reply #40 on: Dec 17th, 2004, 10:27am » on the "Facts vs Opinions" thread. If KT is "hurting your credibility by changing his posts to make your responses look silly," as you said, then I wouldn't bother responding to him. It's also easy enough to quote his entire post by copy and paste or the "quote" feature, so your excuse not to elevate your status above guest doesn't satisfy me. And I give up.
By the way, you can post a hidden email address, so no one will even see it. I guess you've run out of excuses now. Or, at least, I tried my best.

MY inability to change MY posts gives ME credibility, in that I can't pooh-pooh away my mistakes. I have to own up to them -- in public. Some folks aren't willing to do that.
