Is it in governments best interest to solve problems that plague society? No, for if they did solve crime, war, disease, etc., how would government agents justify their jobs or existence? It is in their best interest to see problems increase so they can demand more from and increase control of the people to justify their own violent behavior by saying "for the security of the public good"
