If Neo hasn't started a thread on this already, I would like to discuss what the characters/scenarios/objects/concepts in the movie, The Matrix symbolized ideologically.
An example is Agent Smith. To Me, he is a robot programmed to follow orders just like an IRS agent acting off of your IMF.
The machines attacking Zion, in my biblical worldview, symbolize demons attacking human spiritual progression

Weis,
I think the word Myrmidon accuratly describes agent smith.
It would seem to follow that after Neo destroy's him and he comes back he now has a purpose. He falls back on the only thing he knows but now has no restrictions on his behaviour.

I was unaware that wikipedia had such a detailed history of words; however, the last definition was what I intended to convey.
Minion could also work in the sentence, but it does not convey the same meaning.
A myrmidon personality type would likely follow orders detrimental to its own mother or child.
A minion personality type might have second thoughts if pushed that far.
A myrmidon type is likely to gravitate to enforcement positions, where a minion may be drawn to more administrative roles.
