He's just a man. So are we all. 'Cept the ladies ofc.
He's holding himself to very high standards, is Stef. He cannot possibly hold to them all the time. The fact that he gives it a good go is enough (for me at least, and I have also been banned from that forum..). There aren't many who are even making the attempt.

I have to commend you on your tolerance and generosity, Lummox.
And at the same time I must say that he who holds others to higher standards than he holds himself is next in line for king. Look at all of the self-righteous cretinous types making laws and putting others in jail. It's not the humble ones who cause trouble, it's those who think they are better than others and therefore deserve to make all the rules. (Actually, they probably are just in mortal fear of being found out and so have to act like big blusterous bullies to intimidate the others from looking to closely at them.)
I like a lot of Stef's ideas, but as a person, I'm not interested in having anything to do with him anymore.

The fact that he gives it a good go is enough (for me at least, and I have also been banned from that forum..). There aren't many who are even making the attempt. My post here is one of those "fwiw", of course-- but if I am hearing you accurately ("eye2i") here --ie sincere versus subtle sarcasm-- lummox2, I just want to say it makes me honored to "know" you/be on this forum with you. Many seem to put upon Stef that he's putting (or setting) himself up as perfection. Granting it could just be a sycophantic me, but I just don't find that accurate. Fine lines between what others do that our true self recognize as something our false self is trying to hide regarding our not doing it/walking it, and accurately discerning any hypocrisies/imperfections that other isn't facing. Fine lines too with the likes of jealousy and simple personality conflicts-- again, simply fwiw/imo. And I surely agree that there aren't many who are even making the attempt-- and where only time will tell if that's why they are finding offense/irritation/combativeness/etc. [one such in question for me, being the very poster in denizen's specific linked dialog] As an aside, have you ever considered seeking to be de-banned over there? (assuming of course you'd even want to) I ask for a couple of perspectives; first primarily being to better gauge Stefan's character, another being the value potential of your interaction with others there (as with here)... Again, my main point in posting here, is to express that I'm honored and encouraged in yours. --eye2i2hear

I never e-mailed him, never contacted him. He said the ideas were the thing, so I took him at his word. Good luck to him. How they exist without people I'll not ask. Nah. I still read some of the stuff that's posted, and I try and listen to the podcasts if I can. If anyone would like to discuss these events I am up for it, but I don't think a public disection is of much value. (And is potentially dodgy as can easily be seen.) So pm me by all means. Laslty, thanks!

I wouldn't mind including some words to that effect in what may nevertheless turn out to be my last post at FDR. You and Putty were awesome together over there btw.

I`ll add my kudos to Lummox too. (I followed the events some time later, which sometimes helps with the perspective). I thought you conducted yourself admirably. Not bad for a self-confessed humble-deficient sufferer

[slightly sarcastic]heh, glad I haven't signed up for a forum account there... how long before I " offend" at the wrong time [/ss] Seriously though, once a community grows what inevitably happens is... a) some of the "old guard" don't harmonize with the "new crowd" (and/or the rest of the "old guard") and attempt to force peace upon the community, pissing everyone off eventually resulting in bannings/name-calling/new communities being created b) all of the "old guard" live in perfect harmony with everyone else, the community keeps growing forever and eventually the ideas and actions promoted therein take over the entire world. Anyone's guess which one is more likely to happen in any given community? PS: amazingly, "b" is more like what AiLL has been able to remain over the past few dozen months ;D PPS: not meaning to say anything about The Prolific Mr. Molyneux, as a person or a producer of content or an admin... Just the fact is, sometimes butting heads results in a lot of bruised skulls, and those brains occupying said skulls eventually realize they are "better friends staying away from each other for the most part" <-- hey, sounds like the relationship I have with my ex PPPS: I just read the discussion on the FD forum... nice "swan song" (i.e. your apparently-final post) btw... well-articulated and challenging. you troublemaker.
