In california there is a supposed law that police/state can confiscate your automobile if you don't have insurance.
I just wanna pick some minds on this issue because it hits me as odd.

What's odd about it? That they actually pretend they have a reason?
There's some town that has recently decided to confiscate cars and HOUSES when someone has a parking ticket overdue. And what are taxes, but arbitrary confiscation of your property?
It's not odd at all. Despicable, but not odd.

Brooksville city terrocrats decided against that "law". Anyway, as far as I know, most "states" here in the west, except Arizona, have "laws" that permit the po-leece to take cars for no insurance, no registration and some other "violations". They are based on the forfeiture "laws".
